                                                      French Bulldog Breed Information 

The French Bulldog's story doesn't start in France, and it doesn't start with aristocrats. It starts in Nottingham, England, in the lace mills of the mid-1800s, where workers kept small "toy" Bulldogs as companions some weighing less than 25 pounds, a fraction of their English Bulldog cousins. When the lace trade shifted and many of those workers crossed the Channel for jobs in France, their little Bulldogs went with them.

Paris took to the breed almost immediately. French dog lovers were especially charmed by the ones with upright "bat" ears, a trait the English breeders back home actually preferred to breed away from in favor of folded "rose" ears. But in France, the bat ears won hearts, dealers began importing more dogs to keep up with demand, and the breed picked up a new name: Bouledogue Français. Within a few decades it had worked its way into fashionable Parisian homes, becoming something of a status symbol among the well-to-do.

It didn't stay in France for long. American visitors, taken with the breed during their travels, started bringing dogs home and breeding them seriously. The real turning point came in 1898, when a newly formed American club held a dedicated French Bulldog show an elegant, high-society event that helped settle years of transatlantic disagreement once and for all in favor of the bat ear. It worked. By 1913, the French Bulldog had become one of the most popular show dogs in the country.

More than a century later, the personality that made people fall for this breed in the first place hasn't changed a bit. A French Bulldog is, at heart, a clown in a lapdog's body playful, a little dramatic, always looking for an audience, and just as content curled up against your side as it is showing off. It's a breed built for company, not acreage, and it bonds hard with the people it loves.

When taking home one of our puppies you will receive an up to date shot record to provide to your vet along with a two year Health Guarantee. Our adoption process starts with connecting with our customers and helping them out with any questions they may have. From there we schedule a good time for you to visit or set up transportation. We will always be there for you if you have any questions after adopting your puppy.
