Why Are Frenchies So Expensive, Anyway?
Fair question. Let's actually break down the numbers, no smoke and mirrors.
Stud fee: $2,000–$6,000
Most Frenchies can't mate naturally, so this typically includes artificial insemination costs, not just the stud himself.
Genetic & health testing: $500–$1,000
Progesterone testing to time the breeding correctly, plus DNA and health panel testing before we ever commit to a pairing.
C-section delivery: $1,500–$6,000
Frenchies are built with big heads and narrow hips, natural delivery is genuinely dangerous for both mom and puppies, so a planned surgical delivery under vet care is the safe standard, not an upsell.
Vet care, vaccines & deworming: $500–$1,000
Ongoing wellness checks and preventative care from birth through go-home day.
Food, supplies & nursery care: $1,400–$2,300
Specialized food, whelping setup, bedding, and everything the litter needs day to day until they're ready for their families.
Unexpected costs: $200–$1,000+
Emergency vet visits happen, and responsible breeders don't cut corners when they do.
Realistic total per litter: roughly $6,100–$14,300
And remember, Frenchies typically have small litters, just 2 to 4 puppies. That total gets divided across a handful of puppies, not a dozen, which is a big part of why the per-puppy price lands where it does.
So when you see our pricing, it's not padding, it's what responsibly producing a healthy litter actually costs, plus the fact that every dog in the pairing was health-tested before we ever started.
